Amy Santoferraro’s works have a wonderful mix of textures and materials, vibrant colors and incredible details. From beautiful, whimsically named clay “Baske Trees” like “Dusty Rose” and “Turkish Delight” with their intricate, cute, woven bases, to the stories she creates for the ceramic figurines that she has collected over many years in her “Just Visiting” series, her works are nostalgic and emotional. She celebrates childhood memories by creating a fantastical world for her figurines in video creations and often digital prints of them are featured in her shows and exhibitions.
Ms. Santoferraro earned a B.A.E in Art Education and B.F.A in Ceramics from The Ohio State University, where she was an apprentice and Undergraduate Research Scholar. She also received a M.F.A in Ceramic Art from The New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, in Alfred, New York. She was gradated numerous grants and awards, such as Lenore G. Tawney Scholarship, Penland School of Crafts, North Carolina and the Professional Development Grant, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, New York. Her work is exhibited in galleries and public and private collections around the world. She works as an Assistant Professor of Ceramics at Kansas State University.
