Katey Brunini’s adornments are inspired by the beautiful natural settings of her numerous travel destinations. Mixing precious metals such as platinum, gold and sterling silver with diamonds, crystals, pearls, gemstones and even surprising materials such as bone, fossilized walrus tusk or cocobolo wood she creates ethereal, bold, dramatic jewelry. From the Vertebrae Collection’s snake inspired pieces and the gold double helix spirals of the DNA Collection, to the striking intricacy of the Spider Web Collection and the incredible details and vibrant colors of the Objects Organique Collection, her works pay homage to the beauty and power of nature and our resilience and courage.
Ms. Brunini graduated from the University of California in Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Art History. While on a trip in Egypt, enchanted by the jewellery of the Pharaohs, she decided to use jewelry as means of artistic expression. She studied the craft of the Sicilian master goldsmiths in Catania, Italy and was an apprentice of various master jewelers. Her jewelry design company, K. Brunini Jewels was launched in 1998.She has received the Women’s Jewelry Association Award of Excellence in Design and numerous other honors. Her works are held in public and private collections, including the collections of the Headley-Whitney Museum and the Gemological Institute of America.
