The main stars of Margaux Lange’s jewelry: the salvaged Barbie dolls she deconstructs. Connected or highlighted by sterling silver and pigmented resins, Barbie body parts are assembled into fun, pop adornments. But while she pays respect to her inspiration, she doesn’t shy away from critique and analyzes the way the renowned doll has affected and influenced our society. Ingenious and humorous, with her works you will be “wearing the body, on the body.” Ms. Lange developed her Plastic Body Series while she was a student at the Maryland Institute College of Art where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, but her fascination with Barbie began during childhood. Since their inception, her pieces have garnered acclaim and have been exhibited in galleries and art fairs around the world.
