Quirky and artistic, Monika Krol’s jewelry is created from a mix of precious materials such as gold and sterling silver with vintage found objects. Discarded plastic toys, doilies or cards are being given a new purpose and common household appliances replace precious stones: a tub and telephone adorn her rings and a sink is featured on one of her pendants. But the most fascinating piece is the show stopping “Return from Victory”: 3 silver and gold rings topped by plastic stallions are interlinked with a polished “chariot” bracelet carrying a proud toy warrior. Ms. Krol has exhibited her work as part of a “Duet” with friend and fellow graduate of The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, painter Danielle Rizzolo. These exhibitions featured the whimsical jewelry, Ms. Rizzolo’s paintings and collaborative pieces.
